I was working on editing this clip as part of an upcoming video, but the uncut footage of the fire building seemed to have its own message to share, so I decided to give it its own video.

Our inner self—our soul—whatever you want to call it—is often neglected and abused so much that life begins to feel dark, cold, and empty. But no matter how broken or wounded it might seem, if you make a place for it, invite it in, and then tend to it with gentleness, patience, and careful attention to its needs, it will burn bright and warm through even the darkest of nights.

This is a process, of course, and it isn’t always an easy one, but there’s something in the firelight that seems to tell me that it’s possible and that I should keep trying.
